European silicon metal market keeps dull
European silicon metal market continues to be dull this week. The prices for 5-5-3 and 4-4-1 keep generally stable at around
EUR1,900-1,950/t (USD2,377-2,440/t) and EUR1,950-2,000/t (USD2,440-2,503/t) duty-paid respectively now, and the trading
remains thin.
A trader in Europe reported that they sealed a few deals in small quantities in September with the prices for 5-5-3 and 4-4-1 at
around EUR1,950/t and EUR1,980/t duty paid in warehouse Rotterdam respectively, which were generally stable against those of
late August.
The source is not optimistic about the future market, thinking that silicon metal market will not pick up in the near
future.“European car plants are running with difficulties and many aluminum alloy plants reduce output. The chemicals industries
remain sluggish. For polysilicon, the market shows no signal of picking up at all, moreover, China and Europe are in a trading war in
the PV industry. So the silicon metal market will not see improvements in the near future,” said the source.
